Baseball took root in Japan in the late 1800s, with the first professional teams starting in the 1930s. Before and after World War II, many US teams undertook goodwill tours to the islands. At the same time, Americans of Japanese descent formed their own ethnic teams and competed at the highest amateur levels, even playing in the internment camps they were forced to reside in during the war. Ebbets Field Flannels play homage to this history with their Japanese Baseball Collection.
